Halloween Pennant dragonflies (Celithemis eponina - see below) are common in southern Minnesota. They perch on plant stems,  giving them an appearance of a pennant in the wind. The term "Halloween"  stems from their orange coloration. Males have an orange face and body markings whereas females have yellowish markings.  They are approximately 3.5 cm in length.
