Eastern Pondhawks((Erythemis simplicicollis - see below))are common in southern Minnesota. Males have a green face and greenish thorax, and a blue abdomen. Females have a yellowish-green thorax and abdomen with dark stripes around the abdomen. They frequently perch on stems of plants, eating their prey. They are approximately 4.5 cm in length.
